Dubrovnik Island Cruise

Sailing Holidays in Croatia
Korcula Island

The following islands can be explored on this Croatian Island Cruise, depending on the amount of time you want at each destination.

Elafiti Islands

There are three islands that make up the Elafiti Islands.

Kolocep (The Green Island) has two main villages one at each end Donje Celo and Gornje Celo, both favourites of our guests who enjoy relaxing on the sandy beaches, and taking a dip in the clear blue sea.

Lopud also offers spectacular beaches to relax, in particular, Sunj ( pronounced Shoon) and is the most developed for tourism of these islands.

Sipan (pronounced Shee-pan) is the largest of the island group at 16.5 sq km.

Sudared is the main port and connected to Sipanska Luka, a larger town 5km away.

In Sudared the harbour is dominated by a 16th century castle built by a wealthy Dubrovnk seafaring family.

Sipanska Luka is an active fishing village and contains a fortified church and parish church housing some wonderful 15th century paintings.

Bike rentals are the most popular method of transport between these two areas and are available from the tourist information centre.

Mljet Island

The island is a sanctuary of lush forest, a national park, and quaint villages.

Polace offers a beautiful secluded beach and after spending time lazing on the beach you have the opportunity to explore the National Park’s two saltwater lakes. The lakes extend 4 km and can easily be walked. While there you may want to visit a 13th century Benedictine monastery on the islet Melita situated in the middle of the large lake.

Okuklje is another favourite destination on Mljet island offering plenty of swimming opportunities and hiking trails.

  • Lastovo Islands

A cluster of 46 small islands, 44 of which make up the most preserved marine area in the Adriatic.

This is a sailor, nature lovers and hikers paradise.

Lastova Island is mostly forest with many hiking and cycling marked trails, although bike rental is only available in Pasadur.

The highest peak in Lastovo Town provides panoramic views across the whole of the Lastova Islands and across to neighbouring Korcula.

Skrivena Luka (Hidden Bay) also known as ‘Portorus’, is so secluded that it is not possible to see from the open seas and is a regular request by our guests to visit.

On the Cape Struga, the east of the bay there is a lighthouse that is one of the oldest on the Adriatic. It is a village and small bay on the southern coast of the island of Lastovo.

  • Korcula and Viganj

Named Black Korcula by the Greeks due to its dense forest, Marco Polo was said to be born on this island and the stunning Old Town houses a small museum dedicated to his life and travels.

The locals call Korcula Town ‘little Dubrovnik’ due to its impressive medieval squares, cobblestone streets and churches.

The view from the Bell Tower is worth the climb.

Across the water is our favourite watersport destination, Viganj.

Your skipper is a qualified Kitesurf instructor and available to provide private instructions ( at extra cost to the excursion) and Viganj is one of the best spots to learn this sport.

Or why not try your hand at Wind Surfing?

This area really is a watersport enthusiasts paradise and we can spend as long as you like here playing in the sea.
